The Wild Studio
The Wild Studio is the latest theme for the museum's studio artmaking space on level 1 of the Hamilton Building, inspired by the Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak exhibition.
The Studio's featured artist is Bree Angela, a designer for play based in the Denver area. She creates tactile experiences, costumes, puppets, soft environments, textile creatures, toys, and more. Most recently, she designed and created an interactive toy store and open-ended creativity space in Erie, Colorado.
Angela's installation is dedicated to making tactile experiences that evoke a connection to one’s inner playfulness and sense of joy. With a colorful palette, bold printed graphics, and interesting textures, she sets out to fabricate fantastic worlds and creatures out of fibers and other sensory materials.
Visitors can join demo artists in the Wild Studio on select Studio Saturdays. Find an upcoming Studio Saturday on our events calendar.
Design Studio
Visit the Ellen Bruss Design Studio on level 2 of the Martin Building to get a behind-the-scenes look at how designers bring their ideas to life. Explore materials, process, and create your own unique designs inspired by DAM's exhibitions and collections.
This interactive space for visitors of all ages was created with the idea that design is everywhere. Building design awareness, the studio explores design as both a process and an outcome. Visitors connect with designers and cultivate their own design thinking and skills.
